My BIG One-and-a-Half-Year-Old!

4.27.2013

Mr. Blue Eyes
I've been so busy lately. I don't know how I have time to eat or sleep or really do anything besides homework and raising a toddler. I have so much keyboarding work that I feel like I'll have carpal tunnel by the time these last four weeks are over, and I still have to complete a final project, final tests, and everything else that comes with my normal workload. I'm a little overwhelmed.

I just wanted to update so you understand why I haven't been here much lately.

Mark is a year and a half old as of Wednesday. We had his 18 month appointment the same day, and we found out some things we were really not happy to hear.

I brought up that we were concerned about Mark's speech development; he doesn't seem to have any non-name words and doesn't respond to his name most the time (though I think he's just stubborn), though he should have up to twenty words in his vocabulary by now. He's being referred to the children's hospital for a hearing test and somewhere in town to see if he qualifies for speech therapy. We don't know anything yet, and they might determine that he's on track still, she's just taking precautions as early as possible to ensure that we can deal with potential problems should they arise.

We're obviously going to be participating in whatever they want us to just to make sure everything is okay. I'm so stressed out...I have so much to do and now I feel like I've failed him somehow. Maybe that's ridiculous but I honestly just want to cry every time I think about it. Maybe I spent too much time on the computer? Maybe having untreated postpartum depression for the first few months of his life has hurt his development? What if it's hurt our relationship?

I need to stop thinking about this. We'll be ready when it's time to take him, and we'll be ready to take on whatever we have to. If they say he's okay I'll be so relieved, and if they don't, then at least we'll be working on it early, instead of waiting until he's in school and making his life much more difficult than it needs to be...right?

We're going to be just fine. I'll be back to post again, I promise. Just wanted you guys to know everything that's been occupying my mind lately.

If you get the chance, please check out my friend LaShell's blog at Not Your Typical Housewife. She's pregnant with her first baby, a little boy, and she's awesome all around! I'll be spotlighting her soon and maybe stealing her genius for a guest post since I'm a little preoccupied right now.

Also, enjoy some pictures of Mark and his daddy. :)

Grabbing a handful of dirt...

Woot, it's Saturday.

I'm home. I stayed two nights at the apartment with Boyfriend instead of the one that I was originally planning. It was nice.

We went all lazy bones and slept until noon today, and then woke up and walked to Baskin-Robbins to get ice cream. I had some of this nonsense called "Rock n' Pop Swirl Sherbet" - grape and apple sherbet with pop rocks mixed in. The grape was green and the apple was purple, and it was all just kind of "what?"

I can't have ice cream because of my problem with puking up all things dairy (sigh...), but I really wanted some and Daniel hadn't had ice cream in forever and a day, so I shot for this.

It was obviously made to grab the attention of little kids and I personally thought it was way too sweet, which Boyfriend didn't really understand because "sherbet is the sweetest ice cream." But luckily I got a little bit of my regular raspberry/orange/pineapple combo and I was like, "NO - taste this. It's way more sour-ish." (I know, I rock at explaining things.)

But anyway, he agreed and thought it sucked after tasting the second one. And yeah, that was my Saturday afternoon.

The apartment is only a few blocks from Main Street, so it's kind of cool being within walking distance of things to do every once in a while (even if everything closes early - like 5pm - on most days). And he's right down the street from the library! This is probably only exciting to me, but it's totally going to be a plus once I move in.

I went to a graduation the other day, which I mentioned in Thursday's post. The baby kicked every time anything was being shouted over the speaker, and I can't decide if s/he loved the noise or hated it. By the time it was over I was totally in pain, because my back is apparently just done with all of my shit right now. It was nice getting to see a few people who I haven't in a while, though, so there's that.

I wish I had taken pictures, but of course I forgot my camera. Sadface. I really need to charge the thing and start carrying it with me, because I haven't really gotten any photos in a while. Hm, to-do list.

Also! So y'all know, I was going to create a page where I could feature your buttons, but instead I decided to allow you to link yourselves. Head here to do so.

PS: I changed my header again. I know, I know, I should really stop doing that, but I'm terribly indecisive and have a lot of time on my hands right now.

Come October: Week 21

6.09.2011

It's Thursday, which means another week for baby and me.

Weird...via BabyCenter
Today I'm spending time with a friend who is in town after moving out of state, so I won't really be around a computer. I just wanted to post something beforehand. I'm not sure if I'll be here tomorrow, either, as I'm staying at Boyfriend's apartment tonight (where I'll be moving very, very soon!) and they don't have internet.

Normally I'd take my laptop so that I can either pick something up from a neighboring business (shhh...) or walk to Starbucks, but we're going to another friend's high school graduation and I just need to carry as little with me as possible. (This makes me feel both old and young at the same time - to be able to say it feels like it's been so long since mine, and then to follow up with the fact that I'm going to be a mom and realize immediately afterward that it hasn't actually been so long after all.)

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well, and that you have great weekends! I'll post as soon as I get back.
